Battle of the CollabsPosted: February 16, 2012
Be it a coincidence or not, Mary Katrantzou for TopShop and Marni for H&M‘s highly-anticipated capsule collections hit stores in Canada on March 7th and 8th, respectively. Both the brilliantly-bold newcomer and the long-standing superpower are launching exciting collections that display their strengths in avant-garde pattern mixing while maintaining more “affordable” price points than the original pieces these capsules are based on. I can see the massive lineups and cat fights as I type.
Like two trendy bands dropping their albums on the same day, I’m curious to see which will garner more attention on that fashion-focused weekend and whose pieces I’ll be spotting on my girl crushes thereafter. Here in Vancouver, we won’t really know who wins the boxing match du jour as Katrantzou’s 10-piece collection will be available only at The Bay in Toronto’s Yorkdale Centre. But Marni x H&M will be available at Pacific Centre so start thinking about your shopping strategy to maximize returns and minimize elbows to the face now.

I couldn’t find many Marni for H&M photos online so check out the commercial, directed by Sofia Coppola, here:
