Spring Screening

For some reason, Spring brings along a need to clean: our closets, our bodies – even our minds.  Part of my cleanse will involve cutting back on junk food for the brain (read “Reality TV”. Thank God there’s only one more episode of Top Model left!) and replacing it with something healthier (i.e. educational, which should still make it OK for me to watch the Food Network, right?).

Luckily, Vancouver’s documentary film festival DOXA is here with screenings just in time for my spring cleaning. Last night (after winning tickets through Yelp!), I checked out “Who Took the Bomp? Le Tigre on Tour”, a flick documenting the 2004 world tour of the feminist electroclash band. I was thoroughly entertaining and learned a lot about an underground scene I was only superficially familiar with.

DOXA goes on until Sunday May 15th and you can view the day-by-day schedule here.
